Magazine Evaluation

We have now finished our magazine. We had decided to call it ‘Infinity Rockz’. As a group we had chosen to call it infinity rocks and as for our banner we chose 'Indie For Infinity' because it links to our theme and sounds as if Indie music is never ending. The audience that we have aimed this magazine is for young adults / teenagers. We you can tell this is for teenagers because of the use of slang in 'RockZ' instead of correct standard english. The type of magazine music genre we had chosen to do was Indie , this was because we wanted to chose something different.

Our cover consist of a group picture of our band ‘The Black Out’ . As a masthead we used the name of our magazine, the text that we used was bold and highlighted so it can attract buyers. We also added the main sell line, which was the name of our band ‘ The Black Out’ this givers a convention of a real music magazine. As a group we had to take pictures of our selfs and had to find a background that would suit out image. As a class we had been given a tutorial on how to us a new form of technology in the media industry, this was called photoshop this helped us edit, cut, crop and resize our front covers. With out picture we was able to move and cut any images using music stick which was easy to do and quick. We started adding another images such as guiters and microphones , which made it look more like a real magazine. As two groups we had decided to make to editions which was Autumn and Winter. We then started to put together out magazine starting with the background of leaves which linked to our edition which was Autumn. We then added our cover lines, images of other bands such as foo-fighters, razor light. We also added offers such as win free tickets to glastonbury , tickets to infinity awards to entice buyer and offering free posters of young popular bands. These are important to include in a magazine so it can attract the audience into buying it. We had added last the barcode and the price which is only £2.50. This is a reasonable price of young teenagers to buy, we had chosen not to make it expensive because young teenagers would be able to purchase it. Our magazine would be distributed in local shop, internet sites and music shops this would make it easier for young teenagers to access it.

I have learnt a lot about how technologies from the process of constricting this magazine in recent years have developed to create many ways of todays media, such as magazine covers. In this task i have learnt have to use photoshop, which had helped us develop our magazine. If we was to make another front cover, i would change a few things such as from using more colours other than black and red. This would have made our magazine stand out more to audience and also adding a bit more text.
